1.
Now you say you’re lonely You cried the whole night though Well, you can cry me a river Cry me a river I cried a river over you Now you say you’re sorry For being so untrue Well, you can cry me a river Cry me a river I cried a river over you * You drove me, nearly drove me out of my head While you never shed a tear Remember, I remember All that you said Told me love was too plebeian Told me you were through with me, and Now you say you love me So, just to prove you do Go on and cry me a river Cry me a river I cried a river over you (Repeat from *)
2.
Time and again I’ve longed for adventure Something to make my heart beat the faster What did I long for? I never really knew Finding your love I’ve found my adventure Touching your hand, my heart beats the faster All that I want in all of this world is you You are the promised breath of springtime That makes the lonely winter seem long You are the breathless hush of evening That trembles on the brink of a lovely song * You are the angel glow that lights a star The dearest things I know are what you are Someday my happy arms will hold you And someday I’ll know that moment divine When all the things you are, are mine (Repeat from *)
3.
Goldfinger 03:13
Goldfinger He’s the man, the man with the Midas touch A spider’s touch Such a cold finger Beckons you to enter his web of sin But don’t go in * Golden words he will pour in your ear But his lies can’t disguise what you fear For a golden girl knows when he’s kissed her It’s the kiss of death from Mister Goldfinger Pretty girl, beware of his heart of gold This heart is cold (repeat from * ) He loves only gold Only gold He loves gold
4.
There’s a saying old, says that “Love is blind” Still we’re often told, “Seek and ye shall find” So I’m going to seek a certain lad I’ve had in mind Looking everywhere, haven’t found him yet He’s the big affair I cannot forget Only man I ever think of with regret I’d like to add his initial to my monogram Tell me, where is the shepherd for this lost lamb? There’s a somebody I’m longing to see, I hope that he turns out to be Someone to watch over me I’m a little lamb who’s lost in the wood I know I could always be good To one who’ll watch over me * Although he may not be the man Some girls think of as handsome To my heart he carries the key Someone tell him, please To put on some speed Follow my lead Oh, how I need Someone to watch over me (repeat from *) Someone to watch over me
5.
Scotch and soda Mud in your eye Baby, do I feel high, oh me oh my Do I feel high Dry martini Jigger of gin Oh, what a spell you’ve got me in, oh my Do I feel high People don’t believe me They think that I’m just braggin’ But I could feel the way I do And still be on the wagon All I need is one of your smiles Sunshine of your eyes, oh me oh my Do I feel higher than a kite can fly Give me lovin’ ’Cause I feel so high People don’t believe me They think that I’m just braggin’ But I could feel the way I do And still be on the wagon All I need is one of your smiles Sunshine of your eyes, oh me oh my Do I feel higher than a kite can fly Give me lovin’, baby ’Cause I feel so high
6.
I’ve never met you, yet never doubt, dear I can’t forget you I’ve thought you out, dear I know your profile, and I know the way you kiss Just the thing I miss on a night like this If dreams are made of imagination I’m not afraid of my own creation With all my heart, my heart is here for you to take Why should I quake? I’m not awake * Isn’t it romantic? Music in the night A dream that can be heard Isn’t it romantic? Moving shadows write the oldest magic word I hear the breezes playing in the trees above While all the world is saying you were meant for love Isn’t it romantic? Merely to be young on such a night as this Isn’t it romantic? Every note that’s sung is like a lover’s kiss Sweet symbols in the moonlight Do you mean that I will fall in love perchance? Isn’t it romance? (repeat from * )
7.
I’m a glum one, it’s explainable I met someone unattainable Life’s a bore, the world is my oyster no more All the papers where I led the news With my capers, now will spread the news Superman turns out to be Flash in the pan I’ve flown around the world in a plane I’ve settled revolutions in Spain The North Pole I have charted But I can’t get started with you Around the golf course I’m under par And Metro Goldwyn wants me to star I’ve got a house, a show place Still I can’t get no place with you You’re so supreme Lyrics I write of you Dream, dream both day and night of you And I scheme just for the sight of you But what good does it do? In 1929, I sold short In England, I’m presented at court But you’ve got me down-hearted ’Cause I can’t get started with you Oh, tell me why am I no kick to you? I would always stick to you Fly through thin and thick for you Tell me why I’m taboo? I’ve been consulted by Franklin D. And Robert Taylor asked me to tea But I’m still broken hearted ’Cause I can’t get started with you I can’t get started I can’t get started with you
8.
Gone is the romance that was so divine It’s broken and cannot be mended You must go your way and I must go mine But now that our love dreams have ended What’ll I do When you are far away And I am blue What’ll I do? What’ll I do When I am wondering who Is kissing you What’ll I do? * What’ll I do with just a photograph To tell my troubles to? When I’m alone with only dreams of you That won’t come true What’ll I do? (repeat from *)
9.
Once upon a time A boy with moonlight in his eyes Put his hand in mine And said he loved me so But that was once upon a time Very long ago Once upon a hill We sat beneath a willow tree Counting all the stars and waiting for the dawn But that was once upon a time Now the tree is gone How the breeze ruffled through his hair How we always laughed as though tomorrow wasn’t there We were young and didn’t have a care Where did it go? * Once upon a time The world was sweeter than we knew Everything was ours How happy we were then But somehow once upon a time Never comes again (repeat from *)
10.
The more I read the papers The less I comprehend The world and all its capers And how it all will end Nothing seems to be lasting But that isn’t our affair We’ve got something permanent I mean in the way we care * It’s very clear, our love is here to stay Not for a year, but ever and a day The radio and the telephone And the movies that we know May just be passing fancies And in time may go But, oh my dear Our love is here to stay Together we’re going a long, long way In time the Rockies may crumble Gibraltar may tumble They’re only made of clay But our love is here to stay (repeat from *) Our love is here to stay
11.
When all the world is a hopeless jumble And the raindrops tumble all around Heaven opens a magic lane When all the clouds darken up the skyway There’s a rainbow highway to be found Leading from your windowpane To a place behind the sun Just a step beyond the rain Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high There’s a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby Somewhere over the rainbow Skies are blue And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true Someday, I’ll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That’s where you’ll find me Somewhere over the rainbow Bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why, then, why can’t I? If happy little bluebirds fly Beyond the rainbow Why, oh, why can’t I?

about

American jazz diva's fourth studio album. Features familiar songs requested by her fans, with her backing band recorded live in the studio.

• All new material (11 songs)
• Mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Jessica Thompson (Erroll Garner)
• 7 songs feature rarely-performed introductory verses

Honors: Global Music Awards Silver Medal (Best Jazz Album/July 2023), Clouzine International Music Awards (Best Jazz Album & Video, Fall, 2023), Akademia Music Awards (Best Jazz Album & Video/June 2023), Josie Music Awards nominee for Artist and Vocalist of the Year (Jazz/Blues)

At her live shows, Laura Ainsworth receives numerous requests to perform beloved songs such as Julie London's "Cry Me A River" and Judy Garland's "Over The Rainbow." She initially had no plans to record these songs, but the fans requested that she do so, and she happily agreed.

Laura's caveat was that she record the albums the Laura Ainsworth way, with fresh and unusual arrangements that present the songs in a new light. Eight of the twelve tracks include introductory verses that are in the original sheet music but seldom recorded.

Laura opted to record the backing band live in the studio, which is a departure from her usual multitracking approach. The album was mastered by sound engineer Jessica Thompson, who specializes in audio restoration and is Grammy®-nominated for her work on Erroll Garner's “The Complete Concert By The Sea.”
